About Us
Who We Are
Global Thalassemia Foundation (GTF) is a non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to eliminating Thalassemia and inherited blood disorders through curative gene therapy and nationwide prevention strategies.
Why This Matters
Thalassemia is a chronic, debilitating genetic condition requiring lifelong monthly blood transfusions. Over time, repeated transfusions lead to:
- Liver failure
- Heart failure
- Endocrine and pituitary failure
In Pakistan, the median survival age remains tragically low, highlighting the urgent need for a definitive cure.
Our Mission
To move Pakistan from chronic disease management to definitive cure, while ensuring no child is born with preventable genetic disease.
Our Aims
- Establish Pakistan’s first Gene Therapy Centre
- Reduce new Thalassemia births by 90%
- Provide access to care for underprivileged families
Who We Serve
We serve patients and families affected by Thalassemia and inherited blood disorders in Pakistan and the region, with a focus on those who lack access to curative care. Our preventive work reaches communities at risk to stop new cases before they start.
